| Ceija Stojka - Portrait of a Romni |
Karin Berger's portrait of Austrian intellectual, author and artist Ceija Stojka is an intimate and moving record of Romany life in pre and post-war Europe.
Born into a large family of Roman Catholic Gypsies, Ceija's childhood was spent travelling, trading horses and living with great freedom, but, in recalling life as a child and the impact of the war, her memories are light and shade.
Beyond Ceija's grace and inspirational outlook, Berger's remarkable film stands as a testament to the passion and defiance of all the Romany people to engage and preserve their culture against social odds.
