ACMI and the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) join forces for the first time to present an unprecedented landmark national survey of the work at the edge of current artistic practice at Federation Square.
Unmatched in its scale and spanning the breadth of visual culture, 2004 includes the latest film, video, television, painting, networked media, sculpture, installation, photography, craft, design and fashion. This major exhibition showcases new work by more than 130 leading and emerging Australian artists. The extensive program of events, exhibitions, talks and screenings as part of 2004 are complemented by a pioneering online exhibition of networked media, a series of specially commissioned ARTV short films screened on SBS, and a major publication.
