Heterodyning Cage is an immersive, robotic-tracking artwork. Entering the urban scope of an old building, with snow gently falling about, you become strangely aware that the room responds to and mimics your own movement.
Adam Donovan combines in Heterodyning Cage the highly specialised field of scientific acoustics with the visual arts. His work is interactive: gallery visitors become the subject of his work as a number of camera systems track their movements. Donovan examines a very different interpretation of the everyday experience we have of sound. He states: "I want to sculpt sound in space and change the way people perceive their auditory environment."
