Everyday Shooter

Independent filmmakers dream that their work will be selected for the Sundance Film Festival, but what do game makers dream of? The answer is the Independent Games Festival and it's back at ACMI for a third year.

The ACMI Games Lab is the only place in the world you can play Everyday Shooter.

This clever game is structured like a well-crafted music album, except instead of a collection of songs it's a collection of shooters.

Everyday Shooter was the winner of the Design Innovation and Excellence in Audio award at IGF 2007.

Designer Jonathan Mak said his aim was to 'simplify' while at the same time creating a chain-reaction style game. Guitar riffs are triggered by the actions of the shooter and the geometric style graphics change according to the music, creating a unique piece of art.

Sound confusing? You'll have to get into ACMI - the only cultural institution in the world with a dedicated space for computer games - to play it for yourself.

If you're feeling inspired by IGF, why not enter Project Joystick? Big Pond Games and ACMI is looking for the next big thing in the Australian games industry.
