I Met Some Happy Gypsies Too
Oscar Nominee and winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, Petrovic's gritty, passionate portrayal of a Serbian community of Gypsies is an undeniable classic.

Like many of his people, Bora (Bekim Fehmiu) struggles to stay true to his nomadic ways and defy the prejudice that surrounds him.  But when he falls madly for the teenage stepdaughter of his bitter rival, he is set on a path of destruction.

Meshing harsh reality with lively song and folklore, Petrovic's tale of lust and revenge signalled a new direction in the cinematic representations of the Roma people. A critical and box office hit on its release, it has lost none of its currency and remains as immediate today with audiences worldwide.
