ACMI hosts Australia's biggest ever animation event, with over 250 animated films from more than 25 countries.
Tue 20 Jun - Sun 25 Jun 2006
Highlights
MIAF is proud to welcome Rosto AD - animator, graphic novelist, musician, artist and designer - as special guest presenting
Mind My Gap, the superbly visioned, multi-layered three-film adaptation of his graphic novel. Followed by a Q&A where you can all be engaged by Rosto's impressive presence.
This year's festival also boasts the first annual Studio Focus, and the first studio in the spotlight is Nukufilm, undoubtedly one of the finest puppet film studios in the world, and has been ever since it was established almost 50 years ago.
Korean animator, Peter Chung, first launched
Aeon Flux on
MTV in 1991 as a series of shorts. The following year,
Aeon Flux went to half-hour episodes. The series didn't so much break rules - it created new ones. MIAF will be screening Peter's favourite episodes - uber cool and savagely stylish.
Over 1500 submissions to the Melbourne International Animation Festival were received this year, and these have been boiled down to seven competitive programs.
