Visually stunning adaptation of Walter Farley's classic children's novel.
When young Alec is washed up on a deserted shore after a perilous shipwreck, he discovers that he isn't the sole survivor; a wild stallion has also managed to make it ashore.
Alec gradually wins over the horse's trust and when both are rescued convinces his mother (Teri Garr) to let the stallion live with them and train to become a champion racer.
Mickey Rooney turns in a wonderfully affecting performance as the horse trainer.
