THEMATIC THREE
democratization and documentation of voice

Identity and Representation: social justice and community building through storytelling
Stories can constitute a construction of social memory. Digital Storytelling is not just a way to archive family history, it is a living memory and dedication to the lives we lead and the people we know. It is important to encourage people and communities to take responsibility for recording and organizing their own memories.
Session Five: Sunday 5 February, 9am

Healthy Stories
Digital Storytelling connects individuals with their creativity and a voice that nurtures individual and community health and wellbeing. Great work has been done in the field of health with digital stories. They provide a powerful voice, demonstrating the human side of a health organisation's work and giving 'life' to issues that are often hard to personalise.
Session Seven: Sunday 5 February, 2pm

Storytelling local identity
Stories are a repository of knowledge. The storylines of our local culture and place help us to remember, witness and understand who we are and where we come from. Digital technologies can assist us in capturing a living memory, fostering awareness of collective and local identity.
Session Two: Saturday 4 February, 11.15am

Workshop: Working in communities; the practicalities
Session Three: Saturday 4 February, 2pm
