While staff at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image are busy preparing to bring the magic of Pixar to Melbourne, ACMI is delighted to announce it will host the Australian premiere of Disney/Pixar's new film Ratatouille on 13 August.

Ratatouille follows the story of a rat named Remy, who dreams of becoming a great French chef despite his family's wishes and the obvious problem of being a rat in a decidely rodent-phobic profession.

Melbournians will be among the first in Australia to see the stars walk the red carpet at the premiere, which will include special appearances from Director Brad Bird and Producer Brad Lewis.

Fans who can't wait until August to see the film can get a sneak peak of an animation test and a special 10 minute preview with an introduction from Brad Bird.

In a world exclusive, the Pixar: 20 Years of Animation exhibition at ACMI will feature never before seen artwork from Ratatouille, including colour sketches and models of the films main characters.

Presented as part of the Melbourne Winter Masterpieces 2007, the exhibition - opening 28 June - will feature over 500 original works of art, including sketches, paintings and sculptures and fascinating digital installations revealing the intricate, hands-on processes behind Pixar's computer-generated films.

Pixar fans will also be able to revisit all their favourite Pixar films with special screenings of the Studio's feature films and shorts, and also meet some of the artists who actually work at Pixar Animation Studios in a series of exclusive public events.

Full details available here as they become available

All of the Pixar artwork and digital media are on loan from the archives of Pixar Animation Studios. The Pixar: 20 Years of Animation exhibition in Australia is managed by Barbican Art Gallery, owned and funded by the Corporation of London.
