The Legacy of Jedwabne
This eye-opening documentary is inspired by Polish historian Jan Gross' groundbreaking research into what really happened to the little-known Jewish community of Jedwabne in Poland.

First published in 2000, Gross' book caused an uproar and much painful public debate, because it demonstrated that many ethnic Poles had been Hitler's willing executioners.

Shot on location in present-day Jedwabne, and drawing on the testimony of many new, well-placed witnesses - including some of the handful of survivors of the original massacre - the film paints a disturbing picture of Polish complicity, the post-war cover-up and contemporary Polish attitudes.

Australian premiere.
