Story of a Beautiful Country
The segregated homeland that black South African Matabane remembers from his childhood under Apartheid no longer exists.

Shooting entirely from the front seat of a minibus taxi, Matabane travels across the country in search of the Promised Land: the new, democratic South Africa.

His journey becomes a cinema verité road 'movie' as Matabane picks up a succession of passengers to whom he poses questions about all kinds of contemporary preoccupations: memory, love, racism, democracy, identity, history, hope and the future.

Includes Q&A with Khalo Matabane.

Australian premiere.
