For more than twenty years ethnobotanist Mark Plotkin has studied the relationship between indigenous people and plants that heal. In the Amazon, the shaman (a tribe's doctor and spiritual leader) preserves the knowledge of the whole tribe. Without an apprentice, when a shaman dies their knowledge goes with them. Mark seeks to save their precious knowledge.
