| Pine Flat |
For her fifth film, renowned artist Sharon Lockhart has created an "engrossing and quietly magnificent" work set in the foothills of California's Sierra Nevada Mountains.
Over a period of two and a half years, Lockhart documented the children of Pine Flat at play, in solitude, and interacting with their environment. The result is twelve visually breathtaking and intimate scenes that are a moving exploration of childhood and the American landscape.
Taking her cues from avant-garde filmmakers such as James Benning (an advisor on this project),
Pine Flat rewards the viewer with a sublime and thoughtful viewing experience.
Also screened at Sundance Film Festival 2006, Berlin Film Festival 2006, Wexner Centre, Cinematheque Ontario and the Lincoln Center. Australian Premiere.
