Winner of the Audience Award at the Berlin Film Festival,
Live And Become follows the path of a nine-year old Ethiopian boy passed off as an African Jew in order to escape his war-torn homeland.
Renamed Schlomo, the boy is adopted by an Israeli couple whose love and support foster a sense of hard-won emotional security in the young boy. Schlomo grows into an idealistic young medical student, but his African heritage continues to pose a challenge to his acceptance by some elements of Jewish society.
