Love In a Time of Sickness

At a dinner party director Khalo Matabane recounts a story about a beautiful woman he had met and pursued. On revealing her HIV status to him, however, Matabane cut her off.
Intercut with direct-to-camera commentary in which the director talks candidly about key moments in his own sexual development, the film is an honest exploration into how the already complex nature of relating is further complicated by the shadow of life-threatening infection.

Ask Me I'm Positive
Teboho Edkins, South Africa/Lesotho, 48 mins, 2004, Betacam SP. Courtesy: Day Zero Film & VideoThabo, Thabiso and Moalosi travel through Lesotho with a mobile video unit, screening a film from the Steps for the Future series. All three are HIV-positive and committed to bringing information and awareness to a population that is one third infected with HIV or AIDS. Although their cause is serious, the men are young, attractive, (responsible), and not at all inclined to sit at home. Their 'morning after' debrief after a particularly successful night out is both disarmingly funny and poignantly affirming.
