Rana, a conservative young mother, has been secretly driving a cab to support her family since her husband went to jail. She picks up Adineh, a young woman from a wealthy family who is fleeing an arranged marriage and the country for a transgender operation.
Depiste a clash of class and beliefs, an unlikely alliance forms between the women. Rana is initially suspicious and terrified of Adineh and her ways. However Adineh, used to being an outsider, is very supportive of Rana and her boldness in driving her husband's taxi against his express orders.
This award-winning film is the first Iranian fictional feature about transgender. A road movie of sorts, Facing Mirrors unites a female team comprising veteran writer/producer, Fereshteh Taerpour, and debut writer/director, Negar Azarbayjani.
