  • as America grew as a nation, industries grew, and more people, known as immigrants, came to America to live and work? This growth period in history is called the Industrial Revolution.

  • steel and oil were important to the Industrial Revolution?

  • new inventions created new factories? New factories meant that people were needed to run them.

  • early immigrants had only one way to travel to America, by boat?

  • early immigrants left their countries because they were poor and they wanted to begin a new life in America, the land of opportunity?

  • early immigrants did not live an easy life? Coming to a new land where people spoke a new language wasn't easy.

  • in 1906, 2 million children worked in factories? These children made twenty-five cents a day.

  • early factories were not a safe or nice place to work?
