Career Highlights 1999 : Appointment as an Honorary Research Fellow with the Department of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering at Monash University. Presentation on Distance Education at the 1999 CILECT Conference held at the School of Film and Television, UCLA, Los Angeles, USA. Presented information to the review into the 'Multimedia 21' Project, Multimedia Victoria, Victoria State Government. (information embargoed). Ph.D. awarded. 1998 : Ph.D. finalised and defended to a local and international panel of examiners. Presentation on Multimedia Convergence to the Parliamentary Committee, Department of Family and Community Development, Victoria State Government. Radio Australia Online is available in text and audio in English and five other Asia Pacific languages and receives some 1 million 'accesses' per month. Presentation on Multimedia in Broadcasting to members of the Victoria State Government. 1996 : Established the dedicated Internet service for Radio Australia. Masters Degree studies upgraded from M.A. to Ph.D. 1995 : Selected as one of three ABC staff to undergo an intensive two month training course in New Media at the ABC's Sydney Ultimo Complex, Sydney University of Technology (SUT), The Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) and at Apple Computer Headquarters, Cupertino, California, USA. Began Adventures in CyberSound, a Master's Degree by Project at RMIT University. Documented via a web site, the project subsequentially gained international recognition, was promoted on other 'media' web sites and adopted as a teaching resource by Harvard, UCLA, UCBerkeley, Stanford and a number of other leading educational institutions. 1993 : Co-designer of the user interface for D-Radio, the ABC's proprietary digital radio studio system. Consultant on the ergonomic, acoustic and electronic fitout of the some sixty plus transmission and production studios at the ABC's 'Southbank Centre'. 1991 : Operations Manager for Radio Australia's coverage of the Persian Gulf crisis. 1989 : Operations Manager for Radio Australia's coverage of the Tienenmen Square massacre. 1987 : Production Operator for Radio Australia's coverage of the Fiji coup(s). 1986 : Production Operator on assignment in Edinburgh, Scotland for Radio Australia's coverage of the 13th Commonwealth Games. 1985 : Co-Awarded a United Nations Media Peace Prize, Gold Citation, with Radio Australia Current Affairs Producer Sue McAlister for the radio documentary 'Star Wars - The USA Strategic Defence Initiative'. 1984 : Production Operator - Radio Australia's coverage of the Indira Gandhi assassination. 1981 - 1983 : Producer - ABC Radio 3LO 'Drivetime' Shift (with Barbara Horn) including coverage of the 'Ash Wednesday' bush fires. 1979 - 1986 : Founding Contributor (as photographer) - 'Dance Australia' Magazine, photographer to Dame Margaret Scott (The Australian Ballet, The Australian Ballet School), Anne Woolliams (The Victorian College of the Arts School of Dance, The Royal Ballet School), John Hopkins (The Victorian College of the Arts School of Music). 1976 - 1980 : Music Producer - soundtracks to the feature films 'Mad Max' and 'The Blue Lagoon' and the TV Mini series 'The Last Outlaw'. 1974 - 1976 : Music Producer - ABCTV youth program 'Countdown'. 1972 - 1981 : Music Producer - Brian May's ABC Melbourne Showband. 1968 - 1972 : Production Operator - Radio Australia's coverage of the Vietnam War and in 1969, ABC Domestic Radio's coverage of the first moon landing. 1965 - 1966 : Professional musician whilst studying engineering at RMIT.
