dofus

developer
In 2001, after having worked together within the same company, Anthony (Tot), Camille (Kam) and Emmanuel (Manu) decided to combine their competencies and create their own company. Tot has a cartoonist diploma, Kam and Manu both graduated from an engineer school.

Their first objective was to make a name for themselves by working on many different projects for various companies and to fund the making of the first demos of what was to become DOFUS. Then, as they faced reluctant editors (while being sure of the originality of their concept), they kept on living their adventure without the help of any external financing. They created a team of about 10 people to start working on the game and developed it in two years, followed by a long period of beta tests which helped them improve the game and make a name for themselves.

Soon, DOFUS was a real success, first in its French original version and then in English. It now counts over a million players including about 80,000 subscribers worldwide.

Stronger for this success, Ankama started publishing mangas and comics inspired by the universe of the game. Normal, really, when one knows that Tot and most graphic artists from the game are originally cartoonists. New game projects are being developed at the moment, like Dofus-Arena, which will be released at the end of this summer 2006 and is already out in beta version. There's also WAKFU which will be the future MMORPG of Ankama whose release is scheduled for the end of 2007 - beginning of 2008. There are also other game projects that Ankama will make for other companies and some of them are soon to be revealed.
