Le Temps de la Désobéissance
An uplifting historical thriller inspired by an actual event that took place in Nancy in July 1942, Le Temps de la Désobéissance dramatises how several members of a Vichy constabulary disobeyed their collaborationist orders, at great risk to themselves, to thwart the round-up and deportation of local Jews.

The film focuses on the fictionalised story of two lifelong friends, Edouard and Lucas, both policemen whose work overseeing the registration and identity papers of foreigners and Jews in their precinct inadvertently puts them at the epicentre of Vichy's collaboration with the Nazis.

Le Temps de la Désobéissance presents with distinction this quietly heroic yet untold story of resistance in the eye of the storm. It is one of the rare representations on the screen of the routine administrative workings of the French police on which so many Jewish lives arbitrarily hinged.

Australian premiere.
