Professor Jeffrey Shaw, Executive Director of iCinema Centre for Interactive Cinema Research, UNSW, is internationally renowned as a key artist and researcher in the field of new media art. In this presentation, Professor Shaw discusses Web of Life, a project on living networks that links art and science, and other online multi-user art projects. For Web of Life, the user's hands are scanned in any one of the three installations located at ACMI, QUT Brisbane, and Karlsruhe Germany. The palm lines of each hand merge into and generate - in real time - a fascinating network of visual and musical transformations.
