Girl meets girl in Rose Troche's witty feature film debut. Centring on the machinations of a close-knit circle of friends, they decide to fix up the tree-hugging Ely (V.S. Brodie) with the urban chic Max (Guinevere Turner).
Affectionately satirising sexual politics along the way, the friends speculate on which women in history were closet lesbians (including Eve, Peppermint Patty and Marilyn Quayle).
High spirits, candor, and heart prevail in this explicit, low-budget feature shot in grainy black and white. Winner Best Film at the 1994 Berlin Film Festival.
