The Carnies are coming.better grab your mobile!
Bring your mobile and the whole family and save Melbourne from Carnie invasion in Scoot, an interactive magical quest for all ages taking place at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, State Library of Victoria, National Gallery of Victoria, the Arts Centre and the Melbourne Museum.
Scoot is a parallel virtual world that exists in the same space as the city of Melbourne. Due to a tear in the fabric of space-time that separates the world of Scoot from our 'real world', the dastardly Omega Carnega and her agents are poised to invade all our beloved arts institutions and bring their crazy carnival to Melbourne...and only you can stop them!
A location-based game for all ages, Scoot takes participants on a unique interactive treasure hunt through the virtual world (online) and real world, which will be populated by strange objects and magical animated characters.
Using the form of treasure hunt and puzzle games in the real world, as well as on-line navigation and flash games, Scoot is played out via SMS instructions sent to participants' mobile phones.
The game begins with players receiving a mystery SOS message leading them to the world of Scoot. In order to avoid invasion, players must seek out magical characters, play online games and interact with the strange objects that have arrived in our major arts institutions.
Created by artist Deb Polson - and following its highly successful 2005 premiere at ACMI, Federation Square and ArtPlay - Scoot 2006 is a new expanded game which moves through the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, State Library of Victoria, National Gallery of Victoria, the Arts Centre and the Melbourne Museum.
Prizes to be won!
