television trials and triumphs
Forget Di and Charles' wedding, it was Scott and Charlene's nuptials that stopped Australia in its tracks. When Molly died in A Country Practice tissue sales soared and there was barely a dry eye in any lounge room across the country.
These moments have become iconic and will remain etched in the Australian psyche for decades to come.
This Thursday 13 July, ACMI presents Alan McKee, author of Australian Television: A Genealogy of Great Moments and media expert on Big Brother Series One, who will discuss these and other seminal moments of Australian television.
Alan will bring to life all your favourite TV moments, from Bert Newton's near run-in with Muhammad Ali at the Logies, to live-to-air controversies such as Graham Kennedy's 'crow call' on In Melbourne Tonight and Big Brother contestant Merlin's protest for refugees.
And if that's not enough TV for you, on Sunday ACMI takes you behind the scenes with Stingers Executive Producer John Wild and Script Producer Marcia Gardner as they reveal how the stories and characters were developed for the hit Australian drama. A must see for all aspiring television producers and writers.
