Arena Theatre Company creates dynamic contemporary performance for young audiences. Arena uses a number of digital technologies within its theatrical performances: image saturation, fast editing and a techno/grunge style make for sophisticated, energised theatre.
In the production PANACEA, performed at
the 1998 Melbourne International Arts Festival and directed by Rosemary
Myers, Arena employed digital animators to construct animation that
intercut with the live performance and was accompanied by a funky
electronic score. Arena used this performance to create a number
of "offspring" products including a five track audio CD,
Website, CD ROM, a 52-minute documentary and a 30-second cinema
advertisement.
