Grandma Lo-Fi: The Basement Tapes of Sigrídur Níelsdóttir

Eight years ago, armed with a cassette recorder, Sigrídur Níelsdóttir embarked on a new music career. Since then she has recorded over 59 albums, and close to 700 songs, becoming an underground music icon in Denmark and Iceland. Eight years ago, Níelsdóttir was 70.
With dogs barking, pigeons cooing, miniature waterfalls flowing and kitchen utensils whirring, Níelsdóttir mixed the tinkering of her Casio keyboard into the soundscape of the world around her, creating music for family and friends that quickly spread to the outside world.
