| Suspiria |
Dario Argento's masterwork
Suspiria ratchets up the supernatural elements in
Deep Red. The film unleashes a barrage of sensory and stylistic effects in the service of a grisly murder mystery set in a girls' dance academy, presided over by the imperious Alida Valli.
Author Maitland McDonagh cannily surmises: "the world of Dario Argento is one of twisted logic, rhapsodic violence, stylised excess. [his] camera is alternately enthralled and repelled by ripe flesh and blood drenched fantasy".
If the trippy set pieces don't freak you out, the industrial strength score by Goblin will!
