| Careful He Might Hear You |
Set in Sydney during the Great Depression, two aunts - snobbish and wealthy Anglophile Vanessa (Wendy Hughes) and working class Lila (Robyn Nevin) - battle for custody of their late sister's child, PS (soulfully played by Nicholas Gledhill).
Director Carl Schulz handles this unabashed melodrama with flair, exploring themes around the Anglo-Australian dichotomy within our culture, growing up and the loss of innocence, and the effects of the Great Depression on Australian life.
Lush period art-direction and John Seale's poetic cinematography make this film a beautiful cinematic experience.
