My Brilliant Career

Based on Miles Franklin's classic turn-of-the-century novel about a sensitive, passionate young woman with great hopes for a career as a writer.

Gillian Armstrong renders Franklin's heroine, Sybylla Melvyn (Judy Davis), through the lens of prevailing 70's feminism.

Davis is stunning as the feisty Sybylla who struggles with the difficult decision between love and independence when she encounters the wealthy and handsome Harry Beecham (Sam Neill).

Winner 6 AFI Awards.
