Surviving Burbank: Childhood
1958-1976Burton's childhood hometown, Burbank, is a small city in Los Angeles County, California. A suburban centre that Burton has described as "Anywhere USA", Burbank is also an extension of Hollywood, with many of the major film studios located there. Burton survived his feeling of alienation from this small-town suburban life on the strength of his imagination. Being an introverted child, he would draw, sketch and use other creative means to express himself.
