As a child, P. Tinto experienced a vision in which he is father to an enormous brood of hale and hearty children. Years later he lives with his wife, the mean-spirited and blind Olivia, in a valley where every 25 years the 'Pendular Expreso del Norte' passes by, and in which they expect their many children. But the years pass and no children appear. Fifty years on, and with all hope abandoned, an unexpected event promises to change their lives forever.
