Tess of the D'Urbervilles features Nastassja Kinski in the title role of a young peasant whose happiness is thwarted by unfortunate twists of fate and repressive Victorian morality.
The film evokes an eerie symbolism through its themes of modernity, alienation and bodily sacrifice. Imported 35mm print.
