This irreverent inculcation of French culture and politics oscillates between Keatonesque hilarity and bittersweet melancholy. It screens with the Godard's Rohmer-scripted All the Boys are Called Patrick.
In Truffaut's The Soft Skin, a famous literary critic (Jean Desailly) becomes entranced with a strikingly beautiful flight attendant (Françoise Dorléac) who keeps crossing his path while he's in Lisbon on a speaking engagement.
