Nominated for an Academy Award for best foreign language film, Stolen Kisses is New Wave master François Truffaut's (The 400 Blows, Love on the Run) third installment in his Antoine Doinel series. This irreverent inculcation of French culture and politics oscillates between Keatonesque hilarity and bittersweet melancholy. It screens with the Godard's Rohmer-scripted All the Boys are Called Patrick.
In Truffaut's The Soft Skin, a famous literary critic (Jean Desailly) becomes entranced with a strikingly beautiful flight attendant (Françoise Dorléac) who keeps crossing his path while he's in Lisbon on a speaking engagement.
