Guerillas in Australia: the Camera as Weapon
This shorts program chronicles a vital moment in Australian radical filmmaking - when students, artists, animators and cinephiles took their cameras to the streets to document dissatisfaction with Australia's involvement in the Vietnam War.
It includes Or Forever Hold Your Peace (58 mins,1970), the first film to be funded by the Experimental Film Fund (to be introduced by Richard Brennan) and an animation by celebrated Australian cartoonist Peter Nicholson, Your Country Needs You (5 mins, 1970).
Also screening is the seminal Beginnings - Scott Murray, Andrew Pecze, Rod Bishop & Gordon Glenn (58 min, 1970), filmed largely at La Trobe University during the 1970 anti-Vietnam War demonstrations.
