The Hypothesis of the Stolen Painting
The Hypothesis of the Stolen Painting
An art collector guides an unseen interviewer around six paintings attempting to solve the mystery of the disappearance of the seventh.

A metaphorical game of hide and seek in which Ruiz, in characteristic Borgesian and Wellesian fashion, playfully deconstructs the art documentary and the limits of pictorial cinema.

What emerges in this labyrinthine series of tableaux vivants is a profoundly playful exploration of the relationship between painting, photography and cinema.

Luminously shot by Sacha Vierny.
