When Margaret Pomeranz and David Stratton first teamed up on our TV sets 25 years ago, they changed the way we thought about cinema. For many Australians, they became the most trusted source of film criticism, education and impassioned debate in the country.
David was our guest for Desert Island Flicks last year. Now, join us for this very special audience with beloved critic Margaret Pomeranz, as she reveals her most cherished five star films.
Margaret Pomeranz has been a formidable presence on the small screen, beginning as a screenwriter and producer with the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) soon after it was formed in 1980.
In 1986, she established The Movie Show on SBS with David Stratton, which they presented until 2004. During that time, Margaret was also Executive Producer with SBS for such programs as Front Up, Subsonics, the AFI Awards and the If Awards.
Margaret is a member of the Advertising Standards Board, a past President of the Film Critics Circle of Australia, and a past President and current Vice President of the advocacy group Watch On Censorship. She is also a member of the inaugural board of the Australian Writers' Foundation.
