Childhood Memories of Fitzroy
Deborah Deacon, Australia, 2010 5:24 mins
When Debbie Deacon's mum came down to Fitzroy from Queensland, she had to sleep in the park with Debbie's little sister Destiny, because no white proprietor would give her a room to stay.
What she found in the park was a supportive community who helped her get on her feet and send for the rest of her family- over her life she gave back again and again to this community, who helped her in the beginning, through her work and her open door to anyone who needed a hand. |
