Mario Andreacchio, 96 mins, Australia, 1988.

Set in a small fishing town in 1950s, Captain Johnno centres on a deaf ten-year-old boy who struggles for acceptance.

A discussion prior to the screening will encourage thinking around individual difference, self-esteem and identity. Several scenes will be examined to highlight issues around conflict, disabilities and social justice as well as empathy, acceptance and sensitivity to others.
