Games in the Classroom

The benefits of videogames in the classroom is now widely recognised. This workshop focuses on how videogames can be used to enhance learning and further students' understanding of social issues and civic responsibility. For instance, organisations such as 'Games for Change' encourage game makers to develop games with relevance to the real world and lived experience.

Situated in Studio 2, ACMI's state-of-the-art digital learning space, this program introduces teachers to a range of games designed to build knowledge and improve social awareness.

This session shares and examines contemporary research and thinking about the role of games in education and provides practical ideas to take back to the classroom.
