School Programs

Koorie Culture

Co-presented by the Koorie Heritage Trust, this program (2.5 hours) includes a discussion and a screening of clips and/or short films. Its aim is to help students develop a deeper understanding of the history of pre-colonial Kulin people and the significant changes they faced as a consequence of the European settlement of Melbourne.

Students will be encouraged to think about the changed ecology of the Melbourne CBD landscape and to develop an understanding of the continuum of Koorie cultural practices, both past and present.

A visit to ACMI's Screen Worlds exhibition is included.

This program would complement either of the Koorie Heritage Trust programs, 'Introduction to Koorie Culture' or 'Walkin' Birrarung - the Yarra Cultural River Walk'. For more information on these programs, visit the Koorie Heritage Trust website.
