Set in the Amazon jungle, this film centres on Antonio Bolivar (Richard Dreyfuss), a 60-year-old recluse living in a backwater town.
This lecture looks at the film's exploration of colonialism and environmental destruction. It will also examine Rolf de Heer's representation of the positive and negative forces at the heart of human nature by focusing on Antonio and his passion for love stories.
This program can also be requested as an ESL session.
