Join third-generation lanternist Dr Ian Edwards (Honorary Fellow, Deakin University) to be introduced to his remarkable private collection of magic lanterns, and experience the spectacle of a traditional lantern performance.
Building on the items he inherited from his grandfather, the collection includes many uniquely Australian pre-cinematic devices, including a rare and remarkable mechanical slide triptych of Captain Cooks Transit of Venus.
Presented with musical accompaniment on the mouth organ, don't miss this rare opportunity to step back in time to the entertainments of the nineteenth century.
