Visiting Australia for the opening of Eyes, Lies & Illusions, German experimental filmmaker Werner Nekes has built the world's most important collection of pre-cinematic devices.
He was Professor at the College for Plastic Arts in Hamburg, Visiting Professor at the University of Wuppertal, Professor at the Art College in Offenbach, Professor at the Art College for Media in Cologne. His own work has been showed internationally, including at the Museum of Modern Art and Documenta.
Professor Nekes will present and discuss highlights from across his fascinating collection of scientific objects and visual toys, covering the last five centuries.
