| Where is the Friends House |

This is the first, and seemingly most simple, feature film in what has become known as Kiarostami's 'Koker trilogy' (along with
And Life Goes On and
Through the Olive Trees).
When journeying to a neighbouring village to return a classmates notebook, a young boy discovers that the road to a friend's house - much like doing the right thing in life - is often beset with obstacles. Dramatic landscapes, purity of image and the escalating tensions of fleeting time transform this small endeavour into a moving cinematic experience. Australian premiere!
Screens with
Bread and Alley (Kiarostami, 12 mins, Iran, 1970), Kiarostami's first film, set to a saxophone riff on 'Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da' that takes a boy, a piece of bread and a mean dog and wordlessly sows the seeds of a poetic signature style.
