"In my films I always wanted to make people see deeply. I don't want to show things, but to give people the desire to see." - Agnes Varda

Discover the fearless feminist godmother of the French New Wave in this introductory conversation before the screening of Lions Love (...and Lies).

Critic Philippa Hawker and writer Annabel Brady-Brown join ACMI's head of film programs, Kristy Matheson, to discuss the legendary canon of one of cinema's greatest directors via her USA films: Uncle Yanco (1967), Black Panthers (1968), Lions Love (...And Lies) (1969), Mur Murs (1981), and Documenteur (1981), which all screen in the season Viva Varda.
