Take a trip back to the glamorous 1950s with our special preview screening of Ladies in Black - a story of love, hope and the perfect dress. Based on the best-selling novel by Madeleine St John, the film is directed by Bruce Beresford (Driving Miss Daisy, Mao’s Last Dancer), and stars Julia Ormond, Angourie Rice, Rachael Taylor, and Noni Hazlehurst.

Ladies in Black costume designer Wendy Cork will be visiting ACMI to talk about bringing to life this exciting period in Australian history in a special one-off in conversation. And don't miss our Get the Vintage Look event as part of Melbourne Fashion Week. Vintage hair specialist Margeaux Vallantyne will teach us how to recreate some of those iconic post-war hairstyles. During the month of September, look out for vintage short films sourced from the vast ACMI Collection from the 1950s and 1960s. They will be screened each day on the lightwell screen.
