What is ACMI?
ACMI is the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, a world first, state-of-the-art facility for the exhibition, promotion and preservation of Victorian, Australian and international screen content.
It is about the moving image in all its forms - film, television, games, video and digital media. ACMI features:
- The world's largest screen gallery - over 1500 square metres
- Two multi-format cinemas
- Hands-on interactive, education and production zones
- Victoria's largest collection of moving image material - including 16mm and 35mm film prints, publicity photographs, film posters and unique objects
Where is ACMI?

How much does it cost?
Entry to the ACMI building is free.
Details of admission prices to cinema programs and other events are listed with the event details in our calendar.
When can I go?
ACMI is open daily 10am to 6pm. The cinemas and ACMI Lounge are open for later screenings. For specific screening times use our calendar search
Where do I get tickets?
The ACMI box office is located on plaza level (federation square). Here you can purchase tickets for events, exhibitions, and screenings.
Alternatively you can purchase tickets to film screenings online
Do I need to book?
Tickets are available from the box office up until the session begins. However, on occasion events and screenings have sold out, so if you really don't want to miss out, it is advisable to buy tickets in advance.
How can I get a job with ACMI?
Employment opportunities at ACMI are advertised in the employment section of this site, so check back regularly for positions as they become available.
How can I get involved with ACMI?
Apart from experiencing the diverse range of events and programs ACMI presents, there is a number of other ways you can get involved with ACMI. Subscribe to the ACMI newsletter, volunteer to work at the Centre, apply for a job, or provide sponsorship support.

What services are available to assist the hearing impaired?
Our cinemas are fitted with Ampetronic Induction Loops to assist the hearing aid user. Hearing aids should be set to 'T' to patch into the signal. For more information visit http://www.ampetronic.com/

I lost something while I was ACMI. Do you have a lost and found?
Please ask at our information desk or call (03) 8663 2200. We hold onto found items for a month before sending to charity.
Can I have a function at ACMI? How much would it cost?
There are many unique spaces available for hire at ACMI. A private film screening, corporate presentation or even a wedding reception, our event coordinators can advise and quote for a variety of events.
