Following the success of the inaugural International Digital Storytelling conference, produced by the BBC, the Australian Centre for the Moving Image proudly presented First Person: International Digital Storytelling Conference from 3-5 February 2006.

The aim of the conference was to bring together the multiple centres of influence and dialogue that are occurring worldwide around the power of personal story as transformative reflection. First Person examined new technologies, emergent themes and project innovations to understand the current and constantly evolving state of digital storytelling.


Conference plenary
The plenary session explored the role of story and myth in liberating the colonial mindset to the understanding that land, identity and story are deeply connected and cannot be separated.

Broadcast convergence: new forms of storytelling

This conference thematic examined the role that technology has played in the development and distribution of new story practices, and focussed on how convergence has altered the traditional relationship between audiences and content providers.
