Wake In Fright
Wake In Fright
Pushing the bush myth as far south as it can go, this controversial and gritty classic follows the increasingly off-kilter journey of very proper and uptight teacher John Grant (Gary Bond) whose one night in the outback turns into a shattering hallucination of gambling, drinking and brutality.

Due to a range of ownership and rights issues (which is a story in itself), Wake in Fright has been submerged for decades, largely available only on VHS or questionable 16mm film prints.

Now it comes to Australian audiences in a beautifully restored 35mm print, featuring unforgettable performances from the likes of Donald Pleasance and the legendary Chips Rafferty in his final role.

Controversial and groundbreaking, Wake in Fright remains one of the great beacons of Australian cinema.
