Carla (Karla)
Carla is an idealistic teacher who encourages her students to openly discuss taboo topics in an attempt to break down walls of suspicion, much to the chagrin of her superiors.

Written by renowned author Ulrich Plenzdorf, Carla became one of the dozen East German films banned in 1965. Originally labelled nihilistic by officials, it was finally screened after the reunification of Germany.

The cast includes Jutta Hoffmann (Carla), Jürgen Hentsch and Hans-Hardt-Hardtloff.

"The precision and lucidity by means of which an eductional ideal is made physically tangible here, as well as the methods which cause it to fail, allow the viewer insight into GDR history in character constellations which make recognition inescapable" Margit Voss, Berlin's "Filmspiegel"14/1990
